The Africa Tourism and Creative Economy Expo (AfTCREE) is consistent with the general principles of AfCFTA and the urgent need for us to optimize Africa's abundant creative and tourism potential.

A strategic conference, peer review window, investment summit and trade fair combined for African nations and their governments, industry leaders, scholars, investors, practitioners and sundry stakeholders.

AFTCREE is designed to effectively complement AfCFTA’s efforts in the automotive industry, agriculture and agro – processing, pharmaceuticals , and transportation and logistics in the overall interest of Africa – the world’s largest free trade area.

THEME: Optimizing Africa's Comparative and Competitive Advantage for Accelerated Trade and Economic Growth

Despite Africa’s remarkable supply of primary commodities such as agricultural products, minerals and raw materials, she contributes about two percent (2%) to global trade at present. This is as miserable as it is regretable. On the home front, the volume of intra-continental trade also leaves much to be desired. This sad reality is clearly beneath us and, quite curiously, does not reflect the abundance of resources – human and natural available on our shores.

While the AfCFTA initiative remains, in our view, a commendable trade masterstroke, it has become imperative for indigenous African nongovernmental institutions and organizations to co-own AfCFTA in their enlightened business interests and give full expression to its laudable objectives, by running with the vision for mutual gain and shared prosperity on the continent. Here is the space we (Afrocultour) have come to play in – a critical component we are set to supply.

On its part, the raging global trade war has again highlighted the fringe role Africa still plays in the world economy. Beyond the emphasis, we consider it a wake-up call on Africa to urgently climb the global trade ladder for improved balance of trade and balance of payment.

While the Africa Tourism and Creative Economy Expo might not be a cure-all, it is, at a minimum, a timely strategic intervention that would reposition the tourism and creative industries on the continent and individual nations-states of Africa for sustainable growth and development. More than anything else, it boldly supplies the private sector buy-in and collaboration required for optimal economic outcomes and trans-generational impact.

The Africa Tourism and Creative Economy Expo theme is: “Optimizing Africa’s
Comparative and Competitive Advantage for Accelerated Trade and Economic Growth”. The event is scheduled for November 24-25, 2025 in Nigeria and will feature the following: conferences; exhibitions; investment workshops; peer review sessions; B-2-B meetings; and a gala night. Here is an opportune moment for Africa to arise and an auspicious time to share prosperity.
